Around the World in Eighty Days Review : The Adventure of a “Robot”

The title of the book Around the World in Eighty Days directly aroused my idea of reading this book. Who doesn’t have a dream of traveling around the world? But the reality is that either there is no time or no energy. The most important thing is that there is no money, so you can only think nonsense in your mind. Everyone always says that if you want to go far away, even if you can’t reach the end of the world, the scenery along the way is worth the trip. This book is full of “distant places” that can be seen without spending money and without going out. However, what really attracted me was not the round-the-world trip itself, but the man named Fogg.

Strange Phileas Fogg

When I first saw Mr. Fogg, I thought this person was really strange. He lived like a robot! What time do you get up, what time do you eat, and what time do you go to the club every day? I don’t have any relatives or friends. Usually, except for home, I don’t even go to an extra place. I don’t talk much, so I like to play cards. Who would have thought that such a person who follows the rules and looks unable to be involved in adventure would travel around the world? When I saw this, I was really confused.

At the beginning of the story, the Bank of London was stolen, and it was precisely because of this incident that there was a quarrel about whether he could travel around the world in 80 days. Mr. Fogg was chased by detectives all the way because of this misunderstanding. At that time, I was curious whether the British people valued honor so much, or Mr. Fogg himself was so serious? Just because I had a word with someone, I was so angry that I really wanted to verify it myself. That night, I packed up and set off. I sweated for him! And his servant was all-thing. It was hard to settle down, and he took him on this unknown journey. I laughed out loud when I saw this.

A tense and touching adventure

To be honest, when I read this book, my heart has been hanging and I haven’t put it down. Mr. Fogg took a train, a ship, an elephant, and even a sled to run wildly on the snow. There were so many situations along the way that people’s scalps were numb. But what I admire is that no matter what happens, Mr. Fogg is a poker face, and there is no panic in his eyes. Is the train late? It’s not urgent. The ship can’t catch up? Find a way. Something unexpected happened? Deal with it without panic as usual. At first, I thought that this person was facially paralyzed, but later I found that he was not emotionless, but never let emotions influence his decision. If I had met him like this, I would have hugged my head and cried on the street.

But what surprised me most was that this cold-looking person did nothing cold at all. He will risk his life to help others, and he will also do whatever it costs for his servants. You say he is a good person, but he never admits it; you say he is indifferent, and what he does is more righteous than anyone else. After reading this, I found that the author carefully portrayed a cute protagonist to attract readers.

Explore the world with Fogg

My biggest feeling after watching it is that it’s so beautiful! After reading it, I want to pack up and travel around the world immediately.Whether you like thrilling adventure plots or fresh and interesting character settings, this book can satisfy you. It has no complicated plot and no obscure expression. Even if you turn a few pages casually, you can be deeply attracted by Mr. Fogg’s calmness and Passepartout’s cuteness. Follow them through different countries and see different customs and people, as if you have completed a journey across mountains and seas. And after reading it, you can not only feel the joy of adventure, but also be moved by Mr. Fogg’s persistence and gentleness, and even rethink what the distance is and how we can go to the distance in our hearts.

I sincerely suggest that everyone who has a dream of traveling around the world but has no chance to realize it should read Around the World in Eighty Days and follow Mr. Fogg and Passepartout on a global adventure without leaving home. Believe me, it will definitely bring you unexpected surprises. After reading it, you can’t help but recommend it to people around you!

Get out of the comfort zone and find your own distance

Around the World in Eighty Days is not just an external trip, but actually a profound exploration of our inner world. Mr. Fogg’s adventure reminds us that the real distance is not necessarily the geographical distance, but the inner breakthrough and growth. When we can bravely put down the comfort circle, face the unknown, and accept the unpredictable difficulties in life, we can gain real freedom and satisfaction in the continuous challenges.

Therefore, whether it is pursuing a distant dream or facing those insurmountable challenges in life, we should be like Fogg, with calmness and tenacity, dare to break through our own limitations, and experience the distant place that belongs to each of us. And this distance is often not out of reach, but hidden under our every step, just waiting for us to take that step bravely to discover its existence.
