Female narcissists have four moods. Once you see them, you cannot unsee them.
1. Sweet in Public
This is the version that everybody loves. She is charming, kind, funny, helpful, and believable. She is the woman people say, “She would never do that.” But that is often the mask. In public, she performs warmth to maintain her image and gather admiration.
2. Cold in Private
Behind closed doors, the warmth disappears. Now it’s the silent treatment, withholding affection, short answers, eye rolls, and a tone that makes you feel like a burden in your own home. The contrast between who she is in public and who she is with you is designed to keep you confused and doubting yourself.

3. The Victim When Confronted
The moment you bring up what she did, suddenly she is hurt. You are attacking her. You are too harsh. You are making her feel unsafe. Now the conversation is no longer about her behavior—it’s about your reaction. That is how the script gets flipped. You end up apologizing for bringing it up, and the original issue disappears.
4. Rage When Control Stops
When you set a boundary, stop chasing, stop explaining, or stop reacting, the mask slips. She blames, threatens, insults, escalates, and creates chaos. Control is the whole game, and when she loses it, she will do whatever it takes to regain it—including trying to tear you down so you’ll go back to being compliant.
The Patterns Are Real
These are not random moods. They are patterns:
- Sweet in public to maintain image
- Cold in private to control and punish
- Victim when confronted to avoid accountability
- Rage when control stops to regain power
If this sounds familiar, you are not crazy. You may be dealing with a narcissistic partner, gaslighting, emotional manipulation, and a toxic relationship that is slowly draining your peace. Recognizing the pattern is the first step toward reclaiming your clarity.
