Why Unforgiveness Keeps You Stuck
Unforgiveness is actually one of the things that keeps you the most stuck in life. When you hold on to unforgiveness, your brain makes decisions based on the past. You are creating the same brain over and over again.
When you choose to make new decisions in your life, you create new neurons that fire and wire together. The more you create those new decisions, the more a new brain is being formed. But if you have unforgiveness in your heart, you’re going to treat everyone and every situation according to that unforgiveness. And that is awful.

How Unforgiveness Affects Your Brain
If you have unforgiveness in your heart, you will treat everyone and every action in your life according to that unforgiveness—which is awful. Your body somatically holds on to things. But when you genuinely forgive, your body starts to rewire itself. The trauma gets released. You change your life by choosing to forgive someone.
The choice to forgive has nothing to do with them. It doesn’t mean they’re winning in life. They don’t even know if you forgive them or not. Holding on to unforgiveness is only hurting yourself, and it’s doing nothing to the other person. You are keeping the same brain, and you are blocking yourself from experiencing good things by holding on to that unforgiveness.
A Simple Practice
Forgiveness is simple. All you have to do is every single day say: “I forgive.” Unforgiveness is just a thought in your mind. Every time you feel angry or triggered, say: “I forgive, I forgive, I forgive,” until your brain registers it as truth.
When you do this, you start to see people for who they are, not for what your past tells you to see. You start seeing experiences for what they are—new doors and opportunities—instead of what your past is telling you to look at. You don’t deserve to live a life that is constantly a loop of being triggered and traumatized.
You Have the Power to Choose
The only person that will get you out of that loop is yourself. You will be given the tools you need, but ultimately, it’s your choice. You are not defined by what happened to you. You are defined by what you choose to do with it.
