Please stop thinking that you need to push people out in order to work on yourself. I see so many people convince themselves that healing or growth has to look like complete isolation—like the only way to become better is to disappear from everyone, shut the world out, and carry everything alone.

Why Isolation Isn’t the Answer

Sometimes, yes, space is necessary. Sometimes you need quiet reflection, time to reset and figure things out. But healing does not require abandonment. You don’t need to cut yourself off from people who genuinely care about you just because you’re trying to improve your life.

You don’t have to isolate yourself emotionally to become disciplined, focused, successful, or stable. In fact, a lot of growth happens through connection—through conversations, support, people reminding you who you are on days when you forget, through being loved correctly while you’re still figuring yourself out.

Stop Pushing People Away While Healing

The Trap of the “Final Form”

There’s this idea that you have to become your final form before you deserve closeness. That’s not true. Humans were never meant to carry everything alone. You are allowed to work on yourself while still being loved. You are allowed to struggle while still being supported. You are allowed to grow without disappearing.

When Isolation Becomes a Defense Mechanism

Constantly pushing people away can become a defense mechanism disguised as self-improvement. It sounds productive, but sometimes it really is just fear. Fear of vulnerability, fear of being seen while you’re unfinished, fear that people won’t understand the version of you that’s still growing.

But the right people will. The right people won’t expect perfection from you before they care about you.

What to Remember

Become better. Heal. Focus. Build that dream life that you want. But stop believing that you have to become unreachable in order to do so.
