Can I tell you something God has been teaching me lately? Some of us are exhausted. Not because we’re lazy, not because we don’t love God. We’re exhausted because we’re trying to carry things that God never asked us to carry.

Why You Are Exhausted

Some of you are carrying next month’s bills. Whether you’ll actually buy a house. Your kids’ future. That test you’re studying for. Whether you’ll have enough money. Whether you’re doing enough as a mom or dad. Whether you’re making the right decisions. Whether everything is about to fall apart.

And you’re carrying all of it today.

Meanwhile, Jesus says in Matthew 6:34: “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

What the Bible Says About Stress and Anxiety

What Jesus Did Not Say

Notice what Jesus did not say. He didn’t say tomorrow won’t have problems. He didn’t say life would be easy. He didn’t say believers wouldn’t feel overwhelmed. He said: stop carrying tomorrow’s problems today.

Anxiety will convince you: “If I think about it long enough, if I worry about it enough, if I replay it enough, I’ll somehow gain control.” But worry has never solved tomorrow. It just steals today.

Some of you know exactly what that feels like. Your body is sitting in your living room, but your mind is six months ahead—thinking about bills, children, marriage, work, school, every possible thing that could go wrong. Eventually, you become crushed under a weight you were never meant to carry all at once.

The Invitation to Cast Your Burden

That’s why scripture says in Psalm 55:22: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” Notice God didn’t say He’ll remove every problem immediately. He said He will sustain you—meaning He’ll carry you through what you’re carrying.

A Reminder for Today

You do not have to solve next year. Today. You do not have to carry next month. Today. You do not have to figure out your entire future. Today, you only have to be faithful. Today, one day at a time.

God has not changed. His word has not changed. So when your mind starts running ahead, remember: He gives grace for today—and that’s all you need.
